Overview
Join Max Joule, an innovative deep-tech startup developing next-generation battery cells and energy storage systems for industries including defence, space, medical, and mining.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing battery cells, battery packs, production tools, and manufacturing equipment. Working closely with the founders, you will contribute to product development from concept through testing and manufacturing while helping build the future of European battery technology.
Your responsibilities
Designing battery cells, battery packs, fixtures, tools, and manufacturing equipment using CAD
Creating and maintaining technical drawings, design files, parts libraries, and engineering documentation
Performing CFD thermal simulations and supporting thermal design optimization
Designing and improving manufacturing tools and production fixtures
Planning, executing, and evaluating Design of Experiments (DoE)
Supporting prototype development, testing, and product validation
Identifying design challenges and implementing practical engineering solutions
Maintaining accurate documentation for designs, tests, engineering changes, and results
Contributing to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and production equipment
During your first months, your main focus will be thermal modelling of battery cells and battery packs, battery cell CAD design, and the development of manufacturing fixtures.
What we’re looking for
Skills & Knowledge
Experience with CAD design and mechanical product development
Knowledge of CFD thermal modelling
Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Experience with SolidWorks Thermal is considered an advantage
Understanding of engineering documentation and product development processes
Ability to analyse technical challenges and develop practical engineering solutions
Experience
Previous experience in thermal modelling gained through professional work, studies, or engineering projects
Experience with industrial machinery such as 3D printers, CNC machines, presses, stamping, calendering, or similar manufacturing equipment
Experience in machine design and modification
Experience in mechanical product design
