Overview
Max Joule is looking for a senior mechanical engineer to support the development of customised battery systems and electric propulsion solutions.
The role focuses on mechanical architecture, thermal performance, structural integration and the transition from prototype designs into manufacturable products.
You will work closely with battery engineers, chemists, manufacturing specialists and external partners.
Your responsibilities
Develop mechanical concepts for battery modules and battery systems
Perform thermal analysis and modelling
Design thermal-management solutions for demanding operating conditions
Support enclosure, structural and component design
Translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions
Prepare and review CAD models, drawings and technical documentation
Evaluate materials, manufacturing methods and component selections
Support prototype assembly, testing and design validation
Identify mechanical and thermal risks during development
Improve designs for reliability, serviceability and manufacturability
Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and technical partners
What we’re looking for
Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
Strong professional experience in mechanical product development
Demonstrated experience with thermal modelling or simulation
Proficiency with relevant CAD and engineering analysis tools
Understanding of materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes
Experience developing products from concept through testing and production
Ability to solve complex technical problems independently
Strong technical documentation and communication skills
Professional working proficiency in English
The following would be beneficial:
Experience with battery packs, electric propulsion systems or power electronics
Experience designing thermally managed enclosures
Familiarity with vibration, shock or structural analysis
Experience in aerospace, automotive, defence or another demanding industrial sector
Experience working with low-volume or specialised manufacturing
